

Martha Bishop Hearn, 85, joyfully entered heaven on March 31, 2014. Martha was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and prior to that was a longtime active member of Huffman Baptist Church. She loved Jesus, her family, and her friends and served them all faithfully. She will be greatly missed. She worked with the Jefferson County Health Department and taught Community Health at the University of Alabama School of Nursing. She went on to earn her doctorate and served as the Dean of the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing at Samford University from 1975 until her retirement. Mrs. Hearn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Berry Winston Hearn. Survivors include: daughters, Ginny O'Brien (Woody); Carol Pope (Randy); son, Berry Winston Hearn, Jr. (LuAnn); grandchildren, Scott O'Brien (Yolima), Jonathan O'Brien (Jamie), David O'Brien (Amy), Matt Pope (Laura), Rachael Hamilton (Scott), Dena Jordan (Hagan), David Pope (Pollye), Winston Hearn (Freya), Jessica Hearn, Jeremy Hearn (Jacqueline); great grandchildren, Hayley, Harper, Nico, Banks, Josephine, Payton, Drew, Eason, Eden, Elle, Ford, Luke, Ryann, Wyatt, Barrett, Win; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Martha Hearn will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3rd at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with Rev. Randy Pope officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be made to the children's building fund at Dawson Baptist Church.
