Mary Virginia Milan Maple was born on December 5, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama to Veto and Virginia Milan. Mary left us on September 15, which is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, to be with her Lord and Savior. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Philip B. Maple, grandson, Philip T. Maple, and sister, JoAnn Milan Piazza. Mary was a beautiful person that loved and always prayed for everyone in need. Mary was an active and proud member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mary worked many years in the home raising her two children, before working in retail and then side by side with her loving husband in several businesses. She loved cooking for family and friends. Her dedication to her God and faith was evident as she prayed daily for all who needed help getting through tough times and was often asked by others to be added to her prayer list. Mary is survived by and will be sorely missed by her children Ross Maple (Arlene) and Lenajo Carroll (Wayne); her grandchildren Chris Gagliano, Jennifer Parrish, Justin Carroll (Katie), and Brad Carroll (Rebeccah), and her loving great grandchildren. Also her sisters, Frances Rosato, Veta Tortomasi (Anthony), and brother-in-law, Vincent Militello (Krickett); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. We would like to thank Aspire Cahaba and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows, Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 AM in celebration of Mary's life. In lieu of flowers, please prayerfully consider a donation to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
