Mary L. Savage, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Hoover, Alabama. Born on March 1, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, she lived a long and full life rooted in faith, family, and creativity.
Mary graduated from Ensley High School in 1949 and remained a proud member of her Birmingham community throughout her life. She was known for her gentle spirit and deep love for those around her. In her younger days, she was passionate about plants, gardening, and working in her yard. In later years, she slowed her pace to arts& crafts and playing her beloved organ. But none of these overshadowed her love for spending time with her children, grandchildren, and church family.
She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her sons, Don Savage (Jamicia) and Steve Savage (Laura), brought her immense pride. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Kristie Franks (Steven), Scott Savage (Heather), Kayla Sitz (Brett), Susan Davis (Drew), Ethan Savage, and Mary Kathryn Laue (Parker). She was also blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren who brought light to her later years.
Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Dewey L. Savage; her parents, Gordon M. Lowery and Mozell G. Lowery; and her sister Peggy L. Maddox.
In recent years, Mary found spiritual nourishment and fellowship at Sun View Baptist Church, where she worshipped faithfully every weekend for over five years. Her church family held a special place in her heart, as did the many friends with whom she enjoyed socializing.
