CHANDLER, MAURICE E. “JIMMY”, age 81 of Irondale, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Lou Chandler; son-in-law, Edward K. Mort; and brothers, Larry and Darrell Chandler. He is survived by his daughters, Debora Mort, Vickie Chandler (Johnny and Ginny Ellard), and Teresa Childs (Scott); brothers, Randall Chandler, Donnie Chandler and Craig Chandler; sisters, Barbara Lindsey, Phyllis Colley and Shirley Byassee; sisters-in-law, Amaryllis and Vivian Chandler; grandchildren, Melinda Beasley (David), Kenneth Mort (Kelly), Pamela White (Travis), Christy Johnson, Alisha Pinney (Mike), Scoti Childs, Brittany Cox (Steven), Lauren McDonald (Wayne) and Kristopher Golden; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy served many years as President of the Steel Workers Union for O’neal Steel. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. His service will be at the chapel on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
