

Mildred Estell Howard Pate, 90, of Hoover, Al. passed away Wednesday, February 01, 2017. She was born Pickens County, Al. in 1926. She was married to Edward Deon Pate in 1944 until his death in 2013. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron Howard, Sr., Eloise Gardner Howard, her brothers, Aaron Howard Jr., and Bobby Howard, son-in-law Wiley Mahan, and 2 great –great granddaughters, twins Fraya and Belle McLeod. She is survived by her brother James Howard, her daughters Patricia Pate Townes ( Richard ), Linda Pate Mahan, son Jerry Deon Pate ( Dana ), grandchildren Richard Townes Jr. ( Ruth ), Deon Townes, Nancy Townes Littlefield ( Jim ), Dara Pate Cook, Heather Pate Martin ( Eric ), Amanda Mahan Aquilera ( Mario ), Samantha Mahan, Mathew Mahan ( Sarah ); great- grandchildren Andrew Yamasta ( Kristin ), Brittany Townes McLeod ( Blake ), Skylar Townes, Jacie Pate Butera ( Tommy), Dalton Hunter Sparks, Greyson Townes, Isabella Townes, Alaina Martin, Olivia Martin, Eleanor Martin, John Morgan, Lindsey, Ellie Mahan, Ben Mahan; great- great greatgrandchildren, Bennett Pate, Elizabeth Butera, Estelle Yamatsa, and Emma Aquilera. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She retired from J.C. Penny in 1988 after several years of service afterward she and her beloved husband travelled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm Tuesday February 07,2017 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with Funeral Services to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include : Richard Townes, Jr., Deon Townes, Matt Mahan, Blake McLeod, Andrew Yamasta, Eric Martin, Dalton Sparks, Bennett Pate. Rev. Joe Hickman will officiate.
