Minnie L Sullivan was born to OlaBell Fincher and Lorenzo Sullivan in a settlement called Swift Place in Selma, Alabama on July 21, 1931. She was raised by her Aunt Ollie and Uncle Charlie. She went to an all-girls high school and accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. Even though she might not have been in church every Sunday, rest assure she read her bible at least twice a day. Eventually, they ended up in Birmingham. Boosie (as we lovingly called her) was a hard worker. She sold cosmetics and also was a maid to doctors, lawyers, police officers and anyone who needed a helping hand. She worked at Baptist Medical Center Princeton for 40yrs and took so much pride in seeing the doctors whose room she used to clean become full fledge doctors. She even made them her personal doctors (Dr Boger and his staff and the Orthopedic Dept.). She worked so hard for her children and a day won’t pass without her family acknowledging all of the love, support, and care she provided throughout her life. “She was called to rest on Friday, November 7, 2020.” Boosie leaves to mourn her death: Her daughter, Betty Faye Mathis (Robert L Mathis Jr.,*Preceded in death); son, Fritz James Sullivan (Dale E.Sullivan *Preceded in death); grandson, Robert L Mathis III; granddaughter, Minita Nicole Joysan Mathis; grandson, Glendon L Cato (Terry); granddaughter, Twila Scott (Mark); great-granddaughters, Mikayla L Mathis and Madysen F Mathis; great-granddaughter, Mayah; great-grandson, Marcus; great-grandsons, Cameron and Christopher; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Erica; brothers-Wilbert Fincher, Sylvester Barker, Clifton Barker, and Donald Barker; sisters-Lois Craig, Louise Macon, Marilyn Barker, Bettie Matthews, and Annie Coleman Butler. Siblings preceding her in death are Cleophus Barker, Lizzie Perkins, Juanita Barker,Clarence Barker and Sidney Barker. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends. We would like to especially thank Ms. Melva Reese and her Family. We would also like to thank Mr. Johnnie Perkins Jr. because we couldn’t have done this without you. She LOVED you both. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am at John Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL., followed by a Celebration of Life Graveside Service at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00am.
