Nellie P Mason

Mary Nellie Mason went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31st, 2020. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many and she will be greatly missed. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, attended Woodlawn High School, and retired from Women’s Missionary Union. She was a member of Crestway Baptist Church. She loved her church, especially the senior group at Crestway.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter E. Mason; parents, Nolan Lyhue Page and Emily Eugenia Page; and sister, Nola Catherine McCluskey.

She is survived by her children, Walter E. Mason (Elsie), Ronnie Mason (Nancy) and Ann Watkins (Tom); her grandchildren, Walt Mason (Katrina), Bobby Mason (Robin), Kim Mason, Matt Mason, Melissa Mason, Joshua Watkins (Adrienne) and Kylie Threadgill (Brad); great-grandchildren, Walter Taylor Mason, Miranda Mason, Cole Mason (Savannah), Christian Mason, Andrew Mason, Caleb Watkins, Hannah Kate Watkins, and Gariel Threadgill; nephew and nieces, David McCluskey, Emily Moler and Cathey Shaw.

Nellie loved her family and took great delight in entertaining them with her quick wit and wisdom. She gave her family a beautiful example of loving people and loving her Lord. She was our matriarch and our prayer warrior. Although we grieve over losing her, we rejoice that she is healed and we will see her again.

She will have a private graveside service at Forest Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
