Notra "Jean" Holden, 83, recently of Hayden, AL (formerly of Adamsville, AL) went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2018. She was born September 21, 1934 in Manchester, TN to the late Ed and Lucille (Tomes) West. Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was known for being strong, independent, and unstoppable. She adored and helped raise her grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Nanny." Jean also loved baking, traveling to the mountains, and shopping for antiques she could refurbish and make new. She loved her Tennessee roots and always considered Tennessee her home. Jean had a green thumb and could make practically anything grow. She was also known for her famous fried apple pies and her homemade potato salad. Jean will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
Jean was preceded in death by her former spouse, Charles Holden; daughter, Vickie Jean Fitts; and brothers Kenneth Alan and Kyle West.
She is survived by her children Connie Glass, Diane Killian (John), and Steven Holden (Stacy); grandchildren Aaron Glass, Jennifer Bridgmon (Cory), Jonathan Fitts (Jackie), John "Junior" Killian Jr., Nikki Ingram (Brian), and Andrew Wolfe (Allison); great-grandchildren Rachel, Brandon, Jake, and Noah Bridgmon, Trevor Ingram, Jordan Fitts, Joaquin Fitts, and Lennon Mae Wolfe; her beloved poodle, Kaylee and her cats Caroline, Precious, Baby, Fred, and Cole; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Gathering will begin at 6 pm with celebration of life service to follow at 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending plants or making memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Jean.
