Robert Lee Barksdale passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Ellen Barksdale, and his brothers; John Barksdale, and Roy Barksdale. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Barksdale, son, Adam Barksdale (Erin), brother, Paul Barksdale (Susan), and several nieces and nephews.
Born in East Lake, died peacefully in his sleep in Trussville at age 79. Graduated from Auburn University. Served in Thailand during the Vietnam war, repairing infrared cameras for the Air Force. Developed Carrollwood Estates in Trussville. Was a graphic artist at Sonat for many years. Was also a prolific artist in other mediums, such as wood carving, drawing, photography, and painting in which he often collaborated with his wife, Barbara. He was a man of deep faith in our gracious, loving Lord.
