.ELKINS, ROBERT E Elkins, Robert E age 83 passed away Sunday May 8, 2011.He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary Frances Elkins and daughter Linda. He is survived by son Mark (Connie) Elkins, and daughter Teresa (Harvey) Payne. Grandchildren Chad Elkins, Lauren, Blake Payne and Chris, Todd Easter. Great grandchildren, Courtney, Shelby Isbell and Ashlyn Easter. Niece Paula(Brad) Slife as well as other nieces and nephews. Mr. Elkins was a Coast Guard Merchant Marine veteran of WWII, he retired from the L&N and CSX Railroads with 40 years of service. Funeral service will be Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. Bill Hicks will serve as Honorary Pallbearer. >
