

Rose O’Leary Weems was born and raised in Chicago, IL to the late Emma Lee Cunningham and John William Slaughter on October 3, 1954, in Chicago, IL. She accepted Christ at an early age. Rose was a loving, kind, giving and spiritual. She was very outspoken and never had any problem telling you what was on her mind. Rose graduated from Lucy Flower in Chicago, IL and went to pursue her degrees for teacher assistant, dental assistant and business administration. She had 13 years Active Military Service in the Army, 6 years National Guard worked for the NBC News, New York and 5 years with the Chicago Board of Education. Rose was a true performer, she understands the dedication of hard work, and had a remarkable ability in business, while effectively managing and leading with her people skills. Her technical skills were outstanding and commendable. She was an active member in her community and served on the Beautification Board in Center Point, AL. One of Rose’s most admirable qualities was her passion for family and friends. She loved to host parties, entertain, travel, play bingo, crochet, shop and go to the movies. Rose loved to travel and made lifelong friends through her travels.
God told Rose to come home. He met her at the pearly gates of heaven. Rose was granted her wings on February 17, 2018. She leaves a wonderful caring husband and friend, who she loved to death to cherish her memories, Thomas K. Weems; four daughters, Constance & Keith Edmond, Crystal Ratcliff; KaTina & Sean Bell and Stephanie & Anthony Terry; eleven grandchildren, Angel Weems, Dominique Ratcliff, Keith Jr., Nyree, Niara and Tariq Edmond, Emilio and Jazire Ratcliff, Jabrel, Kiora and Sean Jr “TJ” Bell, Demetrius and Zamiya Beynard; three great grandchildren, Maliki, Zuri and Aliyah Edmond; sisters, Lois, Geraldine, Le’a & Anthony, Emma, Lynn and Penny & Carl, three sister in-laws; two brothers James and Eli; eleven sister in-laws and brother in-laws, Jeanntte & Robert, Zina & Robert, Joyce, Jarvis & Connie, Hilton, Cinder, Gary and Ken & Talethia; two closest friends she loved like sisters, Ola and Tonya; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
