My mother passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, at St. Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. After suffering from debilitating health issues for more than thirty years, she peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while in our loving arms.
Mom is survived by her loving husband, Gene Wilson (Birmingham, AL), her brother and his wife, Jerry and Anita Hall (Charlotte, NC) and her first son, Michael (Ogden, UT). Her other son, Jon Paul Wilson preceded her in death, shortly after premature birth.
Born on September 20, 1943 in Opelika, Alabama. Mom's parents were Murray Jesse Hall and Charlotte "Lottie" Stephens. Although moving around the southeast throughout her childhood, she returned to Alabama and made Birmingham her permanent home, where she met and married my father 47 years ago this last May.
Although Mom had been home-bound for several years, she was a longtime and committed member-in-service of Huffman Baptist Church, and found ways to serve her church and her Lord even while not being able to attend services regularly. As a former computer programmer for Regions / AmSouth Bank (actually an invent programmer for the modern “ATM cash machines) she used her considerable computer talents to create Prayer Warrior email chain lists, as well as creating advocacy support programs for other home-bound Christians. She also worked tirelessly to create a Community Christian Bulletin board and other outreach programs for residents at the Oak Knoll Assisted Living Home (specifically for those who did not have family our other care persons).
Services will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel (1500 Gadsden Hwy, B'ham 35235) on Tuesday, August 30th. Visitation will be from 12-2pm, Service at 3pm and Graveside at 3:30pm at Forest Crest, Irondale.
There is no more pain now and for that we praise the Lord.
