He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Jean Berryhill.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Loretta Gamble Burnett, sons Wayne, and James, Burnett, daughters Pricilla Shaw, Deborah Meadows and Becky Owens, sister Mary Gay Boone. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mr. Burnett was retired from U.S. Steel with 36 years of service. He farmed in Ashville for 45 years on his family farm Happy Knoll.
Funeral service will be Wednesday March 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hopewell Church of God of Prophecy in Bessemer, Alabama; the body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time, interment will follow the service in the church cemetery... The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel Tuesday March 24, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM.
