Born on June 8, 1944, Bill lived a life marked by devotion to his family, an unwavering work ethic, and a quiet, steady presence that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Bill graduated from Jones Valley High School in 1962. Soon after he began a distinguished 45-year career with Central Bank, which later became BBVA Compass Bank, where he was known for his loyalty, work ethic, and ability to build lasting relationships with colleagues and customers.
Bill was married to the love of his life, Antoinette "Toni" Wingate Waldrop, for 55 years. Their enduring partnership was a foundation of love and strength, and together they raised three sons, Christopher Keith Waldrop (Margaret); Randall Scott Waldrop (Michelle); and Wesley Adam Waldrop (Stephanie). He was immensely proud of his children and worked hard to instill in them the values he held dear – especially the importance of integrity, responsibility, and hard work.
Affectionately known as “PawPaw”, Bill found great joy in his eight grandchildren, William Jackson Waldrop; Miles Burgess Waldrop; Madison Marie Waldrop; Mary Britton Waldrop; Hannah Suzanne Waldrop; Graham Sanders Waldrop; Griffin Fox Waldrop; and Elizabeth Wingate Waldrop
Bill is also survived by his loving sisters, Margaret Jean Miller (Ronnie) and Becky Carmichael (Dave), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories.
Some of his happiest moments were spent with family in Orange Beach, Alabama, enjoying boat rides, storytelling, and the peaceful beauty of the gulf. These special times created cherished memories that his family will carry with them forever.
Please join us to celebrate the life of PawPaw at a reception on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Buckhead Clubhouse 3404 Buckhead Ln. Vestavia, AL.
