

Betty Toombs, age 83, of Bloomington, died Monday morning at the Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville. Born November 12, 1928 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Leo and Mabel (Faucett) Freeman. She retired from Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis as the Dean of Girls. She received her Bachelor degree from Ball State University and her Master degree in Education from Indiana University. She was a gifted paint artist and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bloomington.
She is survived by her two sons; Terry Toombs, of Indianapolis and Steven Toombs, of Bloomington; two sisters, of Phyllis Burch, of Bloomington, and Marilyn Runge, of Columbus, Indiana; two brothers, Garry Freeman, of Bloomington and Roger Freeman, of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Justin, Christopher and Vanessa and one great-grandson, Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lloyd Toombs.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana at 3:00 P.M.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
