Beverly A. Terry died Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at her Unionville home. Born in her grandparent’s farm home, she was the eldest child of Adrian and Theola (Fry) Poling. She graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur, Indiana and from Indiana University. Bev met and married her “sweet man” and her forever love, Alan Terry. They were blessed to parent three sons, Todd (Marcy) Terry, of Martinsville, Trent (Martie) Terry, of Unionville and Travis (Amy) Terry, also of Unionville. She also has five grandchildren, Joshua (Kenzie), Amanda, McKenna, Logan and Adriana. Although he did not live to see them, Alan would have loved cuddling great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Arya and Alan.
As a Registered Nurse, Bev worked a number of nursing roles, including the most interesting, working in the department of medical genetics and the most difficult, preparing for and teaching practical nursing students. When the family moved to the Bloomington area, she worked as a school nurse for eleven years and valued her role in the I.U. program of infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities. She ended her nursing career after working seventeen years with her favorite population of people, the chronically mentally ill at the Center for Behavioral Health, now Centerstone.
A fifty year member of the New Prospect Baptist Church, Bev was blessed to lead a Ladies Bible study and to serve a term as Deaconess. Her faith, now raised by her paternal grandparents, was life-long. Her expectation was that when she took her last breath on earth, she would be taking her next breath in Heaven (II Corinthians 5:8).
Bev is survived by her children grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother, Don Poling, his wife, Dorothy and another sister-in-law, Bobbie Terry, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her her parents, her husband, Alan, in-laws, Kay and Virgil Terry, Alan’s siblings and several dearly loved cousins.
Special affection is sent to the I.U. Health Hospice staff; Jim, RN, Brenda, LPN, Angie, Aide and Angie, Massage Therapist.
