Carol Sue Nethery Smith, 86, of Smithville passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024 in her daughter’s home. She was born May 8, 1938 in Smithville to Arthur “Hap” Nethery and Mary Roberta Bowlen Nethery. She was retired from RCA.
Survivors include her daughter, Celeste (Joe) Shields of Solsberry; two sons, Devin Tarter of Smithville and Dirk Tarter of North Vernon; two grandchildren, Jeremy Tarter and Rachel Greene; a brother, Gerald Lee (Wanda) Nethery; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Smith; two brothers, Pete Nethery and Wayne Nethery; and three sisters, Francis Boshears, Elizabeth “Libby” Gray and LeEtta Sutton.
Carol enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, being outside working around her house, and spending time with her family.
There will be a private family Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
