David Anthony Bridgwaters

David Anthony Bridgwaters, age 59, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday evening, December 29, 2024 at the McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born March 6, 1965 in Bloomington, he was the son of David “Preston” and Mary “Maxine” (Chandler) Bridgwaters. David graduated from Bloomington High School North, class of 1984. While in high school, he loved spending time with Coach George Finley who served as a mentor to him. David was employed as a general handyman doing odd jobs around the Bloomington area, especially working with Jack Morrison and later with David Morrison. He was a very active member of Connected Church in Bloomington and was a prayer warrior for anyone in need. He was well known as a kind, tenderhearted, gentle giant.

David is survived by his two sisters, Renee Bridgwaters Hill and her husband, Vernon Carter, of Bloomington and Angela (Kermit) Billups, of Lutherville, Maryland; one brother, Preston “Albert” (wife, Lori) Bridgwaters, of Bloomington; three paternal aunts, Elizabeth Bridgwaters, of Bloomington, Mary Judith Deayon, of Los Angeles, California and Vivian Bridgwaters, of Bloomington; two paternal uncles, Oliver Bridgwaters and Richard Bridgwaters, both of San Antonio, Texas; two maternal aunts, Linda Jean (Joseph) Ridley, of Houston, Texas and Constance “Connie” Wade, of Chicago, Illinois, one maternal uncle, Seth Debro, of Bloomington and nieces and nephews, Michael Bridgwaters, Chris Bridgwaters, Damion Bridgwaters, Taryn Bridgwaters, Anthony Bridgwaters, Abigail Boating, Alesia Hall, John Billups and Samuel Billups.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Tammula Bridgwaters and Mary Waters.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Carter officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
