
Derk Adrian VanLeeuwen, Sr., age 50, of Bloomington, died unexpectedly Friday, July 26, 2024 at his residence. Born March 25, 1974 in Bloomington, he was the son of Adrian and Lana Lee (Vermeulen) VanLeeuwen. Derk enjoyed working on motorcycle and automobile motors and going fishing. He had been a recent attender of the Westside Community Church. He worked as a heating and air conditioning technician where he had been employed at various area HVAC companies.
Derk is survived by his wife, Lisa (Powell) VanLeeuwen, of Bloomington; his children, Justin Reed VanLeeuwen, of Bloomington, Derk Adrian VanLeeuwen, Jr., of Martinsville and Adrianna Hope VanLeeuwen, of Ellettsville, one step-daughter, Hannah Allgood, of Bloomington, his father Adrian VanLeeuwen, of Bloomington; two brothers, Hans Shane (Lori Ann) VanLeeuwen, of Ellettsville and Garth Dane (Dakota) VanLeeuwen, of Martinsville and several nieces and nephews; Allison Jo VanLeeuwen, Austin Shane VanLeeuwen, Gabriel VanLeeuwen, Madison VanLeeuwen and Laney VanLeeuwen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lana Lee VanLeeuwen, paternal grandparents, Adrian VanLeeuwen, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hopp) Lay and maternal grandparents, John and Betty Vermeulen.
There will be no public services or visitation. A private family service is being planned.
