Janet Sue Parrott

Janet Sue Parrott, age 85, of Bloomington passed away Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2020 at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born March 25, 1935 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Donald D. and Gertrude (Nelson) Patterson. Janet was a graduate of Bloomington High School, class of 1952. Janet worked as a personal secretary to Nat Hill, private attorney and prosecuting attorney in his law practice, and later for the American States Insurance Claims Office and for the law office of Ken Todd.

Janet was a long-time member of the First Christian Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Parrott, Sr., of Bloomington; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly “Bev” and Lary Prior, of Bargersville, her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Linda Parrott, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Jacob Parrott, Brandi Dillard, Jill Barber, Jordan Parrott and Jay Prior and four great-grandchildren, Robbie Barber, Cooper Dillard, Clara Dillard and Jett Barber.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Donald Patterson, Leon Patterson, Francis Finch, Raymond Patterson and Glendon Patterson and one sister, Marilyn Brock.

A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to CoVid 19 restrictions in Monroe county, the visitation will be limited to 25 persons at a time in the building and masks and social distancing should be adhered to. Entombment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital and Bell Trace Health and Living Center for all their care during Janet’s illness.

Memorial contributions may be given to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness or to the First Christian Church in Bloomington.
