John was born on February 12, 1940. He lived a happy life in South Bend, Indiana. He was the son of Zeno and Mildred Stackhouse. He remembered many fun times he spent at Sister Lakes, Michigan, boating, skiing, swimming, and spending time with friends.

John was known for his quiet, gentle nature and was loved by everyone. He didn’t say much, but when he did, everyone sat up and listened.
He loved his job with Lake Central Airlines, but when they merged with Allegheny Airlines, he and his family chose to stay in Indianapolis rather than move.
In 1985, John moved his family to Peru, Indiana. It was here that he joined Nixon Newspapers and became the CFO of the company. He and Patsy were active in the Presbyterian Church, where John served as a trustee.
