

Joseph Melton, age 70, of Bloomington, died Saturday morning in at I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital. Born September 21, 1940 in Bloomington, he was the son of Joe and Mary (Hupp) Melton. He was a retired mechanic from Independent Limestone Company. He loved fishing and hunting. He was of the Christian faith and attended the Apostolic Healing Waters in Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Jordan) Melton, of Bloomington; two sons, Clifford Melton, of Bloomington and Joe Melton, of Ashland, Tennessee; three daughters, Jeanette Murphy, of Ellettsville and Kathy Lesort and Dana Melton, both of Louisiana; one brother, Walter Melton, of Bloomington; two sisters, Almajean Hendrickson and Helen Richardson, both of Bloomington, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Hershel, Bill, Henry and Alvin Melton and one sister, Grace Melton.
The funeral service will be held at Day Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Sister Donna Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in Hindustan Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests to friends who wish that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
