She sold her businesses and retired to the Oregon coast in 1997. She moved to Bloomington, Indiana, in 2015, where she relished the company of her son Troy’s family. She enjoyed shopping, playing MahJong with friends, and watching her grandson Wiley play baseball and golf.

She went out of her way to make people around her comfortable and welcomed, even before thinking of herself. Joyce was devoted to her children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. She is survived by her husband Gary; children, Alan, Shelly, and Troy; her grandchildren Larissa Brennan, Jamie Leigh, Chris Smith, Brandon Wacker, Henry Levine, and Wiley Smith; and her great-grandson Carson Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Helen Weber (Kissler) and by her sister, Janice Early.
An informal celebration of her life will be held at Deer Park Manor in Bloomington, Indiana, on Saturday, July 16 at 10 am. Flowers may be sent before then in care of her son, Troy Smith, 1637 S. Renwick Blvd., Bloomington, IN 47401.
