

Margaret E. Snyder, 89, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at The Hearth at Sycamore Village in Ft. Wayne, IN, following an extended illness. Mrs. Snyder was a lifelong resident of Bloomington, prior to moving to Ft. Wayne on October 8, 2012, to be near her daughter.
Margaret was born February 20, 1924, to Henry Sipes and Clois Newlin (Sipes) Brown. She was preceded in death by both her parents and a step-sister.
Margaret attended Bloomington High School before marrying her high school sweetheart, V. L. (Vern) Snyder, August 15, 1942. Margaret worked briefly, at RCA inspecting materials used by the U.S. Navy, while her husband served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, Margaret became a dedicated wife, homemaker, and mother. She enjoyed being with her family, sewing, cruising and dancing.
Margaret is survived by her husband, V. L. Snyder, a son, Gary (Sandra) Snyder of Plano, TX, a daughter Susan (Robert) Belts, of Wilmington, NC, and a daughter, Nancy (Dan) Host, of Huntington, IN. Additional survivors include six grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Snyder and Jennifer (Jason) Maine, all from Texas, Elizabeth (Sunil) Chopra and David Belts from Chicago, Brian (Rebecca) Host of Lexington, KY, and Amy (Michael) Davey, of Fishers, IN, and eleven great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Adeline and Audrey Snyder, Maggie and Andrew Maine, Linus Chopra, Eli, Silas, Evie and Sadie Host, and Charlotte Davey. A half-brother, Paul Brown, of Bloomington, also survives.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p. m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Day Funeral Home on East Third Street in Bloomington. Services will be conducted by her grandchildren at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013at Day Funeral Home. Internment will be at Valhalla Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 18, 1800 W. Third St., Bloomington, IN, 47404.
