

Marianne Irma Dye, age 85, of Bloomington, died Friday evening at her Bloomington residence. Born June 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Friedrich Gustav and Phillipine (Euler) Schwarz. She was a child citizen of Germany from birth until she moved to the United States in 1958, later becoming a U.S. citizen in 1964. She was ten years old at the beginning of W.W. II and had to suffer through the ravages of war while in Germany. She retired from J. C. Penney catalog department in Bloomington in 1993 where her years of service spanned from working at the downtown Bloomington square store to the store in College Mall. She also loved being a homemaker and tending to the flowers in her greenhouse and caring for the birds that frequented her yard.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Dye, of Bloomington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward R. and Debra Dye, of Bloomington and Thomas J. and Lauretta Dye, of Cape Coral, Florida; five grandchildren, Robert Dye, Stephanie Dye, Nicole Dye, Sarah Dye and Samantha Dye and one great great-child who is due in February.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens with Father Peter Gillquist officiating. Burial will follow the services. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St.
