Michael James Pitts

Michael James Pitts passed away on March 11th 2026. He was born on September 25,1958 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Ellen E Pitts and Thomas J Pitts. The oldest of three boys, Mike, as he was known, was preceded in death by his father Thomas J. Pitts, Sr and his brother William E. Pitts. He is survived by his mother Ellen E. Pitts, his brother Thomas J. Pitts, Jr and his two children Laura Pitts and Nicholas Pitts.

Mike graduated valedictorian from Schulte Catholic High School in 1976 and attended Indiana University graduating in 1981. He worked for Indiana University for 25 years in Residential Programs and Services and during his retirement he worked with the Department of National Resources in Paynetown Campgrounds for the past seven years. Mike was an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons for over 50 years and created the first ever D&D Video Game. Mike was also a big IU Athletics fan and was excited to see the recent success of the football program. An avid guitar player, Mike liked sing and play at parties and family occasions. Mike made people laugh and smile everywhere he went....and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 14 at Day & Deremiah Frye Funeral home in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 12pm to 2pm, with a memorial service at 2pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.dayderemiahfrye.com
