

Mildred L. Patton, age 87, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday morning, January 17, 2024 at her residence. Born September 18, 1936 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Ulisses and Verna (Wray) Lawson. Mildred graduated from Bloomington High School, class of 1954. She retired as a head cook at Indiana University. She was of the Christian faith, loved the Lord and enjoyed his work while living here on earth. She also loved picnics and family gatherings. She enjoyed being with children and was opposed to the any idea of abortions.
Mildred is survived by one son, Brian Scott Patton, of Bloomington and two daughters, Shella Patton and Penny Sue Patton, both of Bloomington, four grandchildren, Sheri Lynn Allen, Sheena Renee Khoda, Sandra Lee McGowe and Keith Long and ten great-grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by one son, William “Dirk” Patton, on January 13, 2024, one sister, Margaret Ruth Lawson and three brothers, Roy Lawson, Robert “Bob” Lawson and Benny George Lawson.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
