IN THE CARE OF
Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home
Parker James Roach, 19, passed away at his home on October 15, 2024 after a hard fought battle with depression and addiction.
Parker was born on September 20, 2005. He was a beautiful baby that made anyone around him smile and immediately fall in love with him. Growing up Parker loved to make people laugh, he was gregarious and thoughtful - and was so very loved by so many people.
Parker graduated from Bloomington High School North in 2024. He recently began working at Cook Polymer. He was excited to have this new job, and was looking forward to getting his first tattoo, connecting with friends, and venturing out on his own.
Parker battled depression for many years and was never able to find his place in this world. He tried to cope with the sadness through drugs. Once this began, he was never able to stop. We know that he wanted to, that he wanted his life to change, but he was never able to find his way out.
Parker was smart, funny, empathetic, and was so much more than his disease. We want him to be remembered as that beautiful child that lit up a room and was so full of hope and love. We want people to know that when it feels like you don’t have a place in this world, that you are loved, we promise you that you are loved and wanted and appreciated.
Parker is survived by his parents, James and Catharine (McElwee) Roach, and his brother, Clayton. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Frances McElwee, and his paternal grandmother Natella McCullough, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Parker was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert McElwee and his paternal grandfather, James R. Roach.
There will be a memorial service at Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. 3rd Street, Bloomington, on Thursday October 24th, with visitation from 3:30-5:30 and the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Indiana Recovery Alliance. The Indiana Recovery Alliance is a drug-user human rights advocacy organization that operates under the philosophy of harm reduction to educate the community and to promote the health and dignity of the individuals and communities impacted by drug use.
