IN THE CARE OF
Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home
Phyllis Josephine Jordan, age 82, of Mooresville, formerly of Bloomington passed away from complications from a stroke Saturday morning, September 18, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital South Campus in Beech Grove. Born April 14, 1939 in Bloomington, Indiana and she was the daughter of Frank Perry Hoene and Myrtle Louise (Mobley) Hoene. She formerly attended the Miller Drive Pentecostal Church and the Apostolic Bible Church before moving to Mooresville to be closer to her granddaughter’s family. Phyllis, a hard worker, retired after many years in Halls of Residence at Indiana University Bloomington. She was a motivated self learner and enjoyed playing the piano and accordion, singing traditional Hymns as well as crocheting, sewing, quilting, and made many beautiful items that will be cherished forever by family. Every Christmas she would make her family favorite peanut butter fudge and often shared the process with her granddaughter who will aim to pass on the tradition. She always looked forward to spending time and playing with her great-grandchildren who kept her young at heart. She loved Jesus and it showed as she was a giver of all things and never expected anything in return. She was a sweet, selfless and caring lady who enjoyed living a simple life and always had something kind to say. She raised her granddaughter as her own and perfected the balance of fulfilling both a Grandma and motherly role. She showed what it meant to be a Christ like follower and taught how to love, be thankful, do the right thing in life’s journey and give our worries to Him. She protected and took care of the the family as she was a true matriarch and she will be deeply missed.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of almost 65 years this November, James “Fred” Jordan, of Mooresville, two sons, Larry Jordan and Alan Jordan, both of Mooresville, her Grandson, Travis Jordan of Bloomington , and her granddaughter Kristina and spouse B.J. Pendill. As well as her great grandchildren, Paisley Marie, Audrey Marie and Micah James Pendill of Monrovia as well as her siblings; Charlie, Katherine (Larry Cooper), Ethel (Kelly Branigin), Robert (Joyce), and Rebecca Hoene. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sandra Darlene Hoene, granddaughter, Tonya Rene Jordan, and great grandson, Brody James Pendill as well as siblings; Lulbelle, Franklin, Timothy Hoene, Carolyn (Ancel Black), and Frankie (Sue) Hoene.
