
Richard “Dick” Schwab, age 61, of Bloomington, passed peacefully on Sunday in his home after a two year battle with cancer. He was a free spirit, loved by many and will be forever remembered for his kindness and big heart. He was the owner of Schwab’s Fudge and Mr. Schwab’s Sweet Shop in Nashville where he and his late wife, Marsha, turned many a customer into a lasting friend.
He is survived by his mother, Jean (Romberger) Schwab, of Abingdon, Virginia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua and Suzanne Schwab, of Newport Beach, California, Jonathan and Christina Schwab, of Bloomington and Benjamin Schwab and Jessica Mayo-Schwab, of Indianapolis; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Dara Parker, of Bloomington and Trent Parker, of Bloomington; his siblings, Julie Schwab, of Abingdon, Virginia, Tom Schwab, of Clearwater, Florida and William Schwab, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, one granddaughter, Sophia Schwab and three step-grandchildren, Daron Parker, Lucy Parker and Lila Parker. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marsha Schwab, on June 5, 2009 and his father, Frank Schwab.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. at the Day Funeral Home Chapel in Bloomington. Friends are encouraged to speak during the memorial service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice.
