I guess Steve will always be with us. Many times Cas says - I miss Steve. And so this continues with our family. He is missed. But always in our memory.

I just now typed Steve's name into Google, hoping to see how we was doing.  We knew one another from our days at AIT.  He was a gentle, intelligent, interesting person who I had wanted to get to know better.  So very sorry to hear about his illness and passing.  I missed him before seeing this news and will continue to do so.  My deep sympathy to his family, who was lucky to have them in their lives.

I shall miss his wit and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I have known him since our days at Kent School. 
He and I shared an unusual friendship and I shall always cherish it. May you all be comforted in knowing he is resting in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We only knew each other a short time and it's been 20 years since I last saw Steve, but I felt that friendship connection from the start.

I remember the day of the shared picture standing back to back with him, water soakers drawn... He was a brother to me that day forward. He was a part of the most incredible time of my life.

Love goes out to all those family members I never met. I have and always will remember him with the best of memories.

Steve, I will miss you, Dood.

Steve and his family were always very good to me.  I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for him.  He helped raise me, inspired me, and always gave me sound advice.  I will remember him in the fondest way.  To my other brothers and sisters, I would like to speak with you again.  I miss you, and my heart goes out to you right now.  He was a good man, and I love him very much.

To the family of Steven Salter:  it has been a very long time since I have spoken to any of you. I will keep all of you in my prayers.  Steven was a truely amazing stepfather to my brother and I and treated us as if we were his own.  I will charish the memories i had with him and his family.  I wish I could be there to comfort you all during this time of grief.

Steven was my brother in law for 6 yrs I believe...(Julie Salter/Garman). He had such a kind, gentle spirit. I did not know that he had been ill for sometime. I will keep his family in my prayers this evening as you come together to honor his life.

My sincerest sympathies to Steve's family and friends. His kindness and creativity will be missed my me personally and most assuredly by the IU Psychology Department. He helped me many times with computer issues without complaint and always smiling. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal.

I won't be able to attend Steve's service due to family obligations, but I wanted to let you know that he was a great guy.  I worked with Steve in Psychology and he always helped me out when I needed him.  I'm so sad that he is gone, but I will always remember his smile.  My prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

To Jackie, Josh, Zak and Jessie and the rest of Steven's family and friends: I cannot find the words to express the saddness I feel for all of you at this time of such huge loss. 
Steven was tender soul and I cherish the time we had together and the time I was part of your family.  My mom also wants me to send her condolences as she is housebound and can't be there this evening. She remembers your family very fondly and appreciated how well you all treated me.

May you all find peace as Steven finally has.

We were very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. Our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time. Steve was a great guy and will be sorely missed in the Psychology department.

My life is much richer for having been so wonderfully influenced from my early years with Steve.  He helped me swim better, he taught me to embrace snags in myriad forms, he introduced me to photography, he helped instill an enduring sense of adventure that I've been able to pass on to my own children enriching my life in untold ways. I'll miss him.

To all belonging to Steve's family, may peace settle swiftly in your lives as days of celebrating Steve's life evolves.

I am deeply saddened and shocked. He will be missed by my entire family. We were always amazed about his kindness and selflessness. 

In turn, I find joy when I think of how often Steve loved seeing Cas running up to him with the biggest smile and simply saying saying 'Hi Steve'. I think the relationship between them was the greatest gift I could have ever given him when sharing my family.

To Steve, my heart says you are now at peace. You will always be rememberd.

We are sending all of you a big hug of caring and concerns- only wish it could be in person. Jackie so enjoyed weekends with Steve being over and all the chores he was ready to do for her.  Through the years in our "Supper Club"  with Bob and Jackie we were able to share their children's experiences.  With much love and heartfelt prayers.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

My thoughts go out to his family.  Steve helped me many a time with my computer issues.  Always patient and kind.

I am so saddened to hear that Steve has passed away. I'll be out of town this weekend and will not be able to attend the funeral, but will keep the entire Salter family in our prayers. I have many really fun memories of Steve while growing up and know he will be greatly missed by those who were close to him.

Deeply creative with an imagination beyond anyone I've yet known in my lifetime.

Steve.

The memories that we created during those youthful days in Columbus, Indiana – now so many years ago  - were Powerful.  Significant.  Personal. We shared a deep love of nature and photography as we struggled to make our cameras speak through the images of light that we brushed onto our slide film. I'm thankful for the many hours that we spent discoursing about Life while still living in kid's clothes and at the same time trying on our adult skins.

We have but few true friends in life that leave deep impressions.  You were one of those. The summers of innocence are long gone yet the memories remain. Thank you for those days, for your courage to be uniquely you and for the gift of connecting me to your wonderful family.
