Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Mt Ebal Cemetery in Smithville, IN. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington, IN
Veronica was born in Marion County, IN to Elmer Lee and Frances Butcher Childers. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by her parents; husband James Whitaker; sisters, Addie Spicer, Myrtle Johnson, Elizabeth Baxter and Lilye Loving; brother, Bill Childers.
Surviving are; daughter, Vickie N. Jones Indianapolis, IN; sons, Charles Newland of Lexington, Frankie Newland, George Newland and Ronnie Newland all of Indianapolis, IN and Ronnie Newland of Lexington; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Zella Davis of Bloomington, IN; brother, Elmer Childers of Salem, Va.
