Pat was a centenarian with adventures beyond her years. She played softball, refereed high school basketball, and was on the rifle team. She studied nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in Spokane and in 1949, graduated from the University of Michigan (because they had a good football team, she said) as a nurse anesthetist, and then spent two years working in Kalakaua, HI. The Big Island became her go to happy place over the following 60+ years.
Pat married Keith Clinton Howell after meeting at the 1953 Apple Cup in Seattle (Cougs won 25 to 20).
They had seven kids and countless escapades, including skiing in the PNW, camping wherever the Town & Country station wagon would take their brood, boating anywhere wet, salmon fishing in Ilwaco, horseback riding in the Cascades, summering on Lake Chelan, and many global odysseys. And she still found time to teach her kids golf.
Pat is survived by six sons and a daughter: Dan (Barb), Melody (Jeff) Lee, Tom (Edie), Steve (Samantha), Park (Michele,) Chris (Mary), and Mike (Milray), plus 20 grand kids and 17 great grand kids.
Services will be on Thursday, June 4, 11:00 am, St. Jude's Catholic
Church, 10526 166th Ave. N.E. Redmond, WA 98052.
