Harold Cecil Jones was born April 5, 1942, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He is the eldest son of four children born to Marguerite Machabie and stepson of Daniel Machabie, who both preceded him in death. Harold grew up in Los Angeles and Compton, California where he attended school and excelled in both academics and basketball. He attended Zion Hill Baptist Church of Los Angeles where he was baptized as a youth and was active in Boy Scouts.
After high school, Harold married Ina Ellis and to this union a son was born, Craig Alan Jones. Harold worked in a professional capacity for Scientific Data Systems (El Segundo, CA), Xerox (El Segundo, CA), Aetna Life Insurance (Los Angeles, CA), and Northrop Corporation, where they were building the B2 bomber (El Segundo, CA).
Harold later married the love of his life, Evelyn Jinkens, on April 1,1967, and to this union two daughters were born, Regina Jones and Kimberly Jones. They lived in Los Angeles for a few years, then decided to relocate to Evelyn’s hometown in Seattle, Washington where he was loved by her family. There Harold continued his career at Data I/O and Coastal Manufacturing in Washington until his retirement.
Harold was an avid (great) bowler; he enjoyed listening to music, dancing and watching sports with Evelyn right by his side. He cherished his family and would travel back to Los Angeles often to visit and to help his parents when they needed him. He adored his grandchildren and had a special relationship with each of them. He was a good friend, a true gentleman and stylish in his appearance. Harold was also comical and always could offer a quick and witty comeback.
Harold passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2025, surrounded by his family who cared for him and loved him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Wayne Jones and Richard Jones, and his sister-in-love Jocquelyn Duncan. Harold leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Evelyn Jones, son Craig Jones (Kathleen), daughters Regina Jones, Kimberly Jones, sister Diane Antwine (Fred), grandsons Markkus Ellis, Craig Jones Jr., Jordan Jones, Andrae Taylor, granddaughter Mikayla Jones, sisters-in-love Charelyn Stennis, Rosalyn Jinkens, Gwendolyn Gainer (John), dear friend Herman Powells and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends who will forever cherished his memory.
