Paul’s adventurous spirit led him to serve a short stint in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He spent a lifetime traveling and exploring all 50 states; the excursions to the warm beaches of Hawaii and the breathtaking sights of Alaska were some of his favorites.
Paul was a dedicated member of the Thomas M. Reed Masonic lodge, serving for several years as secretary and achieving Past Master status, before moving onto the Daylight Masonic lodge. He was also a devout member of his church’s congregation at the United Methodist Church in Monroe, WA, since 1995.
Paul now joins his son Leland Smith, who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carole J. Smith; sister-in-law, Velma A. Smith; his eldest son, Sean A. Smith; his devoted daughter, Sheryl A. Baird; three grandchildren, Elizabeth A. and Derrick P. Dloughy, and Jake R. Baird; and two great-grandchildren, William James Dlouhy and Landon Paul Dlouhy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul’s genuine smile and hearty laugh will be forever embraced as a lasting memory of a man who shall remain dearly loved and deeply missed.
