Rita Mae Miner

Rita Mae (Borzick) Miner most recently of Bothell, WA, passed away on July 23, 2022, at Evergreen Medical Center in Kirkland WA from complications resulting from bacterial blood infection.

Rita Mae Borzick was born in Butte, MT, on August 6, 1933, to James and Marie Borzick along with her twin sister Anita. Rita and Nita attended primary school at St. Ann Catholic School in Butte where they were relentless in trading places because they could. Prior to her senior year in high school, Rita moved to Anaconda, MT, with her family in her sophomore year, and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1951. While attending a high school basketball tournament, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1950, Rita met David Miner. They married on August 1, 1953, and together raised five children - living in Anaconda until 1968 when the family moved to Tacoma, WA.

Rita worked for State Mutual Savings Bank in Tacoma, WA for 12 years and was vitally important to the operations there. Rita and David eventually began a new adventure by purchasing and partnering in the running of two Coast to Coast Hardware stores - the first in Chelan, WA, 1983-1984, and the second, closer to grandchildren, in Allyn, WA, 1985-1993. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and exploring in their RV visiting friends and family along the way. Rita enjoyed sewing, knitting, and creating stuffed teddy bears to give to one and all. One of Rita’s passions was researching and documenting the ancestry of our large and extended family. She became a veritable family detective finding and filing information on 1,660 individuals in her Family Tree. Rita enjoyed this so much as it provided a wonderful opportunity to keep in touch with her dearly loved family and newly discovered relatives.

Rita was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.

Rita is survived by her husband of 69 years, David; children - Timothy Miner, Stephen Miner (Kathy), Rose Brink (Phillip), Rae Kent (Dale), and Bradley Miner Sr. (Sharon); grandchildren - Jessica Williams (Jared), Kevin Brink (Nina), Sarah Davenport (James), Daryl Kent, Rachel Brink, David P. Miner (Erin), Kirsten Bunkeddeko (Juma), Kimberly Miner, Chad Brady (Jessy), and Bradley Miner Jr.; and great-grandchildren - Gabriel Williams, Hannah Williams, Sydney Brink, William Davenport, Emmett Brink, Robert Davenport, Dimah Bunkeddeko, and Brooks Sean Brady; brother William Borzick (Gayola) and cousins Bob Auer, Arlene Mayer, and Carol Lubick.

She is preceded by her parents; sisters - Fran Tracy, Dorothy Shaw, Norma Leeson, Ginger Lanning, and Anita Field; brother Gene Deakin; aunt Elizabeth Anderson; grandson Sean Brady, and cousin Frances Fall.
