I learned of Tom's death today after a search for Amsoil products.  I lived down the street from him and saw his sign so stopped in to chat.  Tom taught me a lot about engines in general and I always enjoyed listening to him.  I became a long time customer.  From the first time I stepped into his garage to the last, my immediate and strongest observation was how organized this man is.  The next thing I always noticed was his resilient cheerfulness and eagerness to help others.  Even after 20 yr in So-Cal, I retain a fond memory of Tom Walsh and am glad to have met him.

My wife, Judy, and I have been off sailing since September 2012.  We would fly back home to Lynnwood once in a while.  I would stop in to pick up Amsoil products, the last time in early April 2016.  As I remember Shirley wasn't doing so well.  Tom was great at explaining oil and filter updates etc., with me for over twenty years maybe toward thirty years as I don't have record books for the other vehicles to look up.   I tried calling his phone numbers this last time we returned via air, due to Covid19.  
Our boat sv Code Blue is still in Australia.  I didn't need anything until recently.   I'll miss his friendly manner and helpful advice.

So sad to hear about Tom.  I would usually see Tom a couple times a year when I bought Amsoil.  We always had a chance to talk in his home office. The last time was in the spring of 2019, and I didn't need something from him until recently.  I wasn't able to contact, so I was fearing the worst.  Today I was able to find his obit.  I'm so sad, but I know he is in a better place with his lovely wife.  

No man had more of a love of his job than Tom. My wife Dawn and I owned the NAPA store in Bothell where Tom was our Amsoil rep. In the beginning,  I did not know what Amsoil was, but he was always so willing to train my employees,  and do whatever it took to help us. We sold more of his products just because we loved seeing him and Shirl. Even at 84, he was still wheeling the boxes through our store. We loved Tom, may he find that awesome camp spot in heaven.
