Allyn was a subtle and wonderful teacher. I appreciated our interactions at Shambhala Mt Center Maitri Retreat.

My time with Acharya Lyon at Shambhala Mountain Center was brief but it was a great privilege to meet her, and take Refuge Vows with her. I felt a connection with her that I haven't felt with any of the other Shambhala teachers I have met so far, and she has inspired me greatly.

Allyn's parents were my mother's sister Eva Spieler Ronfor, and husband Philip Ronfor.  Both were artists and retired to Santa Cruz, CA, in the early 1970s.  After I moved to California in the late 1970s I visited Eva and Phil many times until their passing in the late 1980s.  It was during those visits that I was reacquainted with Allyn and her sister Kathryn (1953-2012), when they were seeing their parents.  Allyn was kind and loving toward all of us relatives, no matter what our background, and was eloquent and engaging about her Buddhist faith when the subject came up.  She could teach Buddhism, subtly and effectively, just by hanging out with parents and cousins as we talked about our lives.  I'll miss Allyn, but will always remember those interactions.
