Jesse (Jess) Leroy Thomas, a spirited and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Longmont, Colorado. He was born on July 6, 1938, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to the late Arthur and Zora Thomas.
In 1959, Jess married the love of his life, Trudence "Trudy" Harris in Boulder, Colorado. For 47 years, they built a life full of love, laughter, and a bit of good-natured mischief, with Jess often testing her patience with his antics until her passing in 2006.
A dedicated HVAC technician, Jess spent most of his life ensuring comfort for others. He owned his own business for a time and later enjoyed working alongside his son and grandsons, passing on his knowledge and trade. Jess had many hobbies that he pursued with his family including bowling, hunting and fishing, but his true passion was for raising paint horses on his beloved ranch, Dandy Acres.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Zora; his beloved wife, Trudy; his brothers, Junior, John, and Buddy; his sisters, Bessie and Normie, and his youngest son, Curt.
He is survived by his brother, David (Cherie) Thomas; his sister, Loretta; and his children, Doyle (Rhonda), Jesse Ray, and Kimberly. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren, Jason, Adam, Brittanie, Jazmine, Ashley, and Amanda, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Jess's life will be held at the American Legion, 315 South Bowen, in Longmont on Friday, September 5th, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Jess’s generous spirit by donating to a charity close to your heart.
