

Kathryn Marie King passed away on August 5, 2025, at her home in Broomfield, CO. She was born to Frank and Rose Kuretich on November 25, 1935. She was born at home at the Sugarite coal camp in Sugarite, NM. When she was two years old her family moved to Louisville, Colorado. She attended Louisville High School where she met and dated David King. They married on April 21, 1958, and built a home on the outskirts of town where they raised three daughters. Kathryn was a homemaker in her early years then worked as the principal’s secretary at Louisville Elementary School until her retirement in 1994.
They moved to Longmont, CO in 1991 where they continued to raise horses, sheep and pigs. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and most importantly watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in sports and 4-H. She had an avid sweet tooth, and her pantry was always filled with treats for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband David of 69 years. Her daughters Jo Dee (Gary) Schlagel, Karen (Terry) Vanzant, Sandy (Doyle) Eicher and her grandchildren Cory Vanzant, Casey (Jessica) Vanzant, Bryan (Christine) Eicher and Brandon (Brittany) Schlagel. She was a loving great grandmother to Landon, Lincoln, Avery, Jaxsen, June, Cash, Kylee and Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank, and her grandchildren Tyler Schlagel and Libby Vanzant.
A private burial will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, CO. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
