Nancy Jean Bachus

Birth 1-5-1930 Death 8-6-2024

Nancy (age 94) passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside. She was born in South Bend Indiana to Mark and Pauline (Griffin) Garn. Nancy was little sister to Dona Lou Pierce. Nancy was raised in South Bend where she lived until she went away to college. The Garn family loved to take car trips all over the United States. They especially loved their travel out west. On one of those trips the family visited Boulder and the University of Colorado. Nancy fell in love with Boulder and was determined this is where she wanted to go to college. Nancy arrived in Boulder and loved her new home where she remained until she stepped into Heaven.

Nancy met Ralph at CU and they fell in love and were married soon after graduation. Nancy loved her family and being a homemaker. Their first born, Diana Bachus Juhlin (Bruce) was born in Kansas, a Kansas sunflower. The rest of their children Toni Bachus Diaz (Felipe), Bruce Robert Bachus (Debbie) and Todd Douglas Bachus (Michelle) were all born in Boulder.

Nancy loved the outdoors as did Ralph and they spent many summers traveling where they would camp, hike and fish. They traveled from Alaska to Mexico and most the states in the US. Some of her other interests were square dancing, gardening, Bible Study, canning and biking. Nancy was a devout Christian and attended Grace Commons Church (First Presbyterian Church) for over 50 years. Later in life Nancy worked as a substitute teacher and in a special needs classroom. Nancy left a list of her favorite things - family, friends, Bible Study, music, clouds, hugs, hiking, flowers, bright colors, and reading.

Nancy is survived by 9 grandchildren - Shawna Han, Jaime Aubry, Briana Sawyer, Benjamin Juhlin, Kelly McClain, Jordan and Hannah Bachus, Emily Flaherty and Bryce Bachus, and 7 great grandchildren - Olivia Han, Jackson Aubry, Caleb Sawyer, Addison Aubry, Charlotte Sawyer, India Czok and Hazel Juhlin.. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Bachus, her son Todd Bachus and great grandson Connor David Sawyer.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Grace Commons Church, 1820 15th Street, Boulder, CO 80302.
