Peter Gregory Vayshenker

He graduated from high school in 1946 and he was admitted to medical school in Moscow, Russia that year. He graduated from medical school in 1952 and married Mariya Bondaryanskaya shortly after graduation.

The young couple relocated to work in Sakhalin where they both worked for several years. In 1956 they returned to Moscow where Peter worked as an otolaryngologist. He was awarded a patent for a cryogenic surgical tool for removing tumors of neck and head, and he received his PhD circa 1985. He wrote more than 50 scientific papers in refereed publications.

Peter emigrated to the US in the spring of 1991 with his wife and mother, and moved to Boulder. He volunteered in the neonatal audiology department at Boulder Community Hospital.

Peter is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mariya Bondaryanskaya, sons Alexander (Anastasia) Vayshenker and Igor Vayshenker (Susan Cohen), and grandchildren Beth Vayshenker (Raymond Wu), Arina and Gregory Vayshenker.

A memorial service for Peter will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Congregation Bonai Shalom, 1527 Cherryvale Rd, Boulder, CO 80303. Following the memorial service will be a graveside service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th Street, Boulder, CO 80302.
