

Roland Siebold passed away on morning January 12th, 2026 after struggling with Alzheimer/Dementia for the last five years. He was 80 years old. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara, a daughter Amber and son Dirk. Also, by two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was born in Denver June of 1945. He grew up in Westminster and graduated from “Westy” in 1963. During his high school years, he was known for taking great pictures of sporting events and local news for the school’s paper. He then attended Trinidad College, where he met his future wife Barbara and graduated with honors in 1965 with an associate’s degree in applied science and automotive mechanics. After graduating he was drafted into the Vietnam war where he ran an oxygen production plant for filling bottles for welding and medical use. He served in Vietnam until 1967. After being honorability discharged, he traveled to Newport RI. Where he married Barbara Otway and returned to Colorado. Where he started a job at Toyota Motors in Boulder where he worked as an auto mechanic for many years. In 1972 he moved to Nederland and purchased a house. In his spare time, he rockhound around the front range and participated in historic reenactments.
After leaving Toyota he served in every position on the Nederland town counsel except that of mayor. He held the position of public works director earning certification in both water and sewer management.
He was past president of the Nederland Lions club and helped with rodeos and parades. He was also assistant scout master and participated in many Klondike Derby’s. After his time with the town, he went to work for the federal government, first as a guard then running the remote supply store and finally in the loading and receiving dock and delivering mail on site for NOAA. Where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of Post 10 America legion where he was past post commander and adjutant and assisted with a memorial and flag retirement ceremonies. He spent his retirement in Nederland at the train cars coffee shop socializing and trading stories and telling bad puns with other residents.
His interment will be at Fort Logan no service will be held at this time. No flowers but donations to the Nederland Area Seniors are welcome. There will be a memorial/ Celebration of life at a later date.
