Born to Ethel Evelyn George and John Williams in her grandmother George’s home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Her father left soon after she was born. She grew up with her step-father Jack Throckmorton, who was a wonderful man. Her Aunt Mag Fuller and Uncle Frank Fuller helped raise her. She had no siblings.
Sue married Ted Earl Dickerson on June 22, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Eastside Christian Church. They had two daughters, Cherie Sue and Brenda Carol. Ted also had a daughter, Teddy Irene, at the time of their marriage. She quickly became Sue’s beloved daughter also. Ted passed away in 1970.
On July 27, 1973, Sue married John William Hoehne in California at the home of his daughter Yvona Musket and son-in-law Ronald Musket. John’s son, Bill, and Yvona fit into the family immediately. All the grandkids on both sides got along and were cousins right away. Several were the same age.
During her life she has lived in Tonkawa, Oklahoma; Tulsa, Oklahoma; oil fields in Oklahoma; California and Colorado. Nickname: Susie
Information you may not know: As a teenager, Sue was a Pairs Roller Skating State Champion, a Cheerleader, high school drum majorette and played the accordion. She also twirled baton and taught it for a short time. She was in high school stage productions. She enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, sewing and ballroom dancing. Sue sold jewelry at house parties in the 1950’s. She did copper work and paintings on copper in the 50’s as well.
The biggest accomplishment, in Sue’s opinion, was the years of genealogy work on the Hoehne family for John and the book of genealogy she compiled on the George family. She wanted so badly to complete all corrections and publish it. She was very proud of it and we were very proud of it and all of the hours, days, months and years she worked on it.
John and Sue loved to go to Blackhawk and always said their car knew its own way up there. John meant everything to her. They were inseparable.
She enjoyed traveling. Hawaii, Europe, Bahamas, Mexico and most of the states were visited. She had planned to go on a train across Canada, but her health would not allow it.
