Wyn Owen was a colleague and friend since 1968.  I worked with him in the Economics  Department and the Economics Institute.  He was a world leader in international economic education.  Indeed, we all witnessed the profound effect he had on so many students from around the world.  Even today it can be said that "the sun never sets on the graduates of the Economics Institute"  Her graduates hold promenate positions in universities, governments and businesses all over the globe.  Wyn also had a significant  reputation in agricultural Economics.  He was an accomplished scholar, a dedicated teacher, a skilled administrator and a good friend to so many people.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and he cared about others.  He will be missed.

Dr. Owen put a strong foundation in the relation of the worlds with  the US especially in education.....Hence, many Indonesian leaders are Economics Institute's Alumni....His role will  always in the heart of EI's Alumni around the world. My six years at the EI in the 1980s were very special, and I have always been grateful to Wyn Owen for the opportunities afforded me there. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.
