Betty Lou was born on March 16, 1923, in Springfield, Illinois, to Glenn D. and Lois Ethel Wallace Dufur. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1940. She married in 1947 to Kenneth D. Dierks and lived near Davenport, Iowa, until 1956. In 1956, the family moved to Bradenton, Florida, and later began their career in the motel business that lasted over 20 years.
She was a member of the Manasota Republican Women club, a past president of Sarasota Toastmistress Club, and volunteer at Manatee Memorial and Happiness House for Crippled Children. A longtime member of the EL Conquistador Country Club (IMG).
She loved her animals and enjoyed her flower garden. Betty Lou also always looked forward to playing bridge with her friends. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother. Betty always helped her friends whenever in need.
She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, her husband Kenneth D. Dierks, and second husband Alvin D. Harris, her son Ronald D. Dierks, and her brother Harold Kratzsch.
She is survived by her daughter Diana D Hubbard and son-in-law Ron L. Hubbard of Roaring Gap, N.C. And several nieces and nephews.
The family will be forever grateful to the medical staff of Bayvue Nursing Home and Rehabilitation and many thanks to her primary Dr. Joe Ganey.
A private graveside service will be held at Manasota park cemetery at 11 AM on April 2, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, at 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
