Ellen was a proud mom to Bernie (Sally), Bob (Amy), Michael, and Cindy Slicker. She deeply loved her seven grandchildren, their spouses, and her eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by many loved ones, but especially her three sisters– Nancy, Laurann, and Sharon (Cookie).
Ellen was born on December 3rd in Detroit, Michigan. She started her family in Houghton Lake, Michigan after graduating from Redford High School.
In 1994, she made her place in the Anna Maria Island community. A longtime resident of Bradenton Beach, she was involved in numerous local initiatives and charities. She spent her time as a dedicated volunteer, activist, and organizer, chances are if you bought a raffle ticket on Anna Maria Island in the last 30 years, you purchased it from her. She was an active member and supporter of frankly, too many causes and organizations to list. If you’ve bought a raffle ticket on Anna Maria in the last 30 years, you’ve likely met Ellen.
Her greatest joy of all, was in her family. She was frequently seen at the ball fields, schools, and fundraisers cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ellen was passionate about her local community and giving back whenever possible. She was known for her generosity in time, spirit, and homemade baked pies. She was a dedicated and loyal individual who loved sports, fishing, bowling, and cheering for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rays.
