
Kenneth Daniel Overton Jr., loving known as Dan, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 82.He was born on January 14, 1944, in Bangor, Michigan. Dan lived a life defined by faith, music, education, and devotion to his family.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Donna Overton, as well as his sister and two brothers.
For most of his life, Dan dedicated himself to teaching, a calling he embraced with patience, wisdom, and a genuine love for his students. His most recent years in the classroom were spent at Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Florida.
Dan was also an accomplished organist whose musical talent was a gift to his church community. He faithfully played at First Church of Christ Scientist, filling the sanctuary with music that uplifted and comforted others.
Above all, Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Overton. He leaves behind his daughters, Joni Martin and Krista Hasselbring; his sons, Jack Ives and Brandon Overton; four brothers;11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in each of them-in their values, their memories, and the love he so generously gave.
Dan will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet dedication, his music, and his lifelong commitment to teaching and faith. His life was a testament to service, family, and grace, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him
