

Mattye Sirman was born February 27, 1932, to the late Johnson Sr. and Francis Curry in Ellenton, FL. After blessing her to live for 93 years, Mattye was called home by the Lord on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025.
Mattye received her education in Manatee County, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1950.
She experienced spiritual conversion at an early age and became a member of Mt. Raymond Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Peterson. In later years, she moved her membership to Greater Mt. Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church, led by Elder Ceaser Allen. Mattye was a dedicated member of the Senior Choir leading the song “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. She also worked on the church kitchen staff blessing us with her delicious sweet potato pies. Fondly remembered as one of the ‘Golden Girls’ at her church, her sense of humor will be greatly missed.
On March 28, 1952, Mattye married James Sirman, and together they shared nearly 66 years of devoted marriage until his passing on March 12, 2018.
Family brought Mattye immense joy. She cherished time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, and brothers. Her loved ones were the heart of her life.
Mattye dedicated many years working as a bus monitor for Manatee County until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Horne; sisters Dorothy Summers, Mamie Woodard, Mildred Barton; brothers Johnson Curry and Alphonso Curry; and sister-in-law Linda Curry.
Mattye’s legacy lives on through her children: Yolanda Sirman, Kenny Sirman, Wayne Summers (Tanya); grandchildren: Brittanie Horne, Jamari Sirman, Tanasia McDaniels, Courtney Clemons, Latebias Reddick; great-grandchildren: Mikiyla Hunt, Faith McDaniels, Chrishawn McDaniels, Lilyan Joseph, Za’marion Clemons, Kobe Sanders; great-great-grandchild Jakavion Clary; loving brother Talmadge Curry; sister-in-law Ade Curry; brother-in-law Harold Barton; special friends: Alvonia Fisher, Connie Albritton, Louise Rue, Carol Jenkins, Pearl Toney; godchildren: Zanthia Monroe, Niesha McNeil, Jenna Hill; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held on December 26, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, located at 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203.
The funeral service is scheduled for December 27, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Greater Mount Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church, 126 9th Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205.
A committal service will follow on December 27, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203.
