Neil Erik Smedstad

Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa, and his son, Erik Andrew Smedstad. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Myrle Sykes Smedstad and Clifton B Smedstad, and his brother, Clark A Smedstad. Neil also leaves behind nephew Corey Smedstad, nieces Amanda Smedstad Ford, Jessica Peloquin, and Stephanie Nelson.

Neil grew up in New Bedford alongside his brother, Clark Smedstad. He spent his early years sailing the waterways around the southeast coast near New Bedford, and enjoying skiing trips to New Hampshire.

Neil graduated from New Bedford High School in 1969 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Textile Technology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1973. While living in Westborough, Massachusetts, Neil served as a project manager at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center in Natick, MA where he designed and developed clothing for military personnel.

Following retirement, Neil and his wife relocated to North Conway, New Hampshire. There he immersed himself in one of his greatest joys, fly fishing. Neil was an avid fly fisherman and an accomplished fly-tyer. He spent his last few years in Bradenton, Florida, enjoying the sunshine and avidly reading historical fiction.
